‘Sustainability and ESG risks in insurance are no longer a niche concern — they are a boardroom imperative for corporations,’ says executive
HDI Global has reinforced its environmental, social and governance (ESG) proposition with three senior appointments.
Among the new hires is Chris Strong, who has been appointed head of ESG risk proposition. Based in Manchester, he reports to Mark Appleton, head of liability underwriting global.
Supporting Strong are Thordis Jensen, who became head of ESG risk proposition international, and Ludovic Ruiller, who took on the role of head of ESG proposition Europe. Both report directly to Strong.
Dr Mukadder Erdönmez, member of the HDI Global executive board responsible for third party liability, cyber and motor, said: “Sustainability and ESG risks in insurance propositions are no longer a niche concern — they are a boardroom imperative for corporations. At HDI Global, it acts as clients’ preferred partner in transformation, evolving beyond protection to become a catalyst for change”.
‘Brand new HDI team’
Strong joins from WTW, where he was environmental practice leader. He has over 20 years of experience in environmental liability, spanning both underwriting and broking.

He said the expansion of HDI Global’s environmental product with social and governance extensions “marks a major step forward for HDI Global, clients and broker partners”.
Meanwhile, Jensen, formerly a senior broker at Aon, brings experience in sustainable finance and international broking.
She said: “I am thrilled to join HDI Global as a change-maker, leading efforts to help businesses shape a more sustainable future through ESG-driven underwriting and advisory strategies that align risk with responsibility”.
