’I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve with his expert guidance and support,’ says managing director
Tide Insurance has named veteran yacht underwriter Paul Miller as non-executive director.

Miller brings over 40 years of experience in yacht and marine leisure insurance, beginning in 1977 with Talbot Syndicate. He then founded R&Q Marine Services, which was sold to Hiscox and subsequently transferred to Millstream Underwriting in 2020.
There, Miller served as director of underwriting for five years until his retirement earlier in 2025.
His market experience also includes committee roles with the LMA Joint Hull Committee and the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI) Inland Hull, Fishing Vessels and Yachts Committee, which he chaired for five years.
Expansion plans
London-based Tide launched in late 2024 with backing from MS Amlin, offering hull and machinery, third party protection and indemnity (P&I) and crew cover for luxury yachts. The MGA’s proprietary digital platform, the Vesselverse, provides brokers with instant access to policy and premium details alongside risk management guidance.

Since its launch, Tide has managed more than £1.3bn in sums insured.
Founder and managing director Ian Hoy said Miller’s appointment will support the MGA’s ambition to expand internationally and enhance its digital proposition.
Hoy said: “I’m pleased to welcome someone of Miller’s calibre to Tide. He has an exceptional reputation in our market and a network of contacts that will prove invaluable as we look to expand our range of products across an increasing number of territories.
“Our mission is to bring luxury yacht insurance online and offer a completely new and intuitive digital journey to our broker partners. I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve with his expert guidance and support.”
Miller added: “This is a fantastic opportunity for me to use my years of experience to help support and guide an exciting new MGA in the market I love. Underwriting in the superyacht space has been historically difficult to digitise due to its complexity, but Hoy and his team have created something totally unique.”
