’We will continue to provide our brokers with market leading products that support their clients’ unique motor passions and needs,’ says chief executive
Specialist motor insurer ERS has appointed Martin Hall as its new managing director, taking responsibility for the performance of Lloyd’s Syndicate 218.
Hall joined the firm in 2018 and most recently served as an active underwriter, with him helping shape the underwriting strategy.
Before this, he held senior roles at Direct Line Group and Zurich. In his new role, Hall will report directly to Peter Bilsby, chief executive at ERS’s parent company, IQUW Group.
Hall said: “I am incredibly proud of the team we’ve built at ERS – a team of underwriting, claims, pricing and distribution experts who live and breathe specialist motor.
“As we grow beyond £500m gross written premium, we will stay true to what makes ERS different – an A+ rated specialist motor only and broker only insurer, with an absolute focus on underwriting discipline and a digital-first mindset.”
Successor
Hall’s previous position as active underwriter has been filled by Scott Tillbrook, who has led ERS’ personal lines bespoke, commercial and agriculture portfolios.

Tillbrook has been credited with growing several profitable niche and specialist motor classes at the firm.
Bilsby said: “I am delighted that Hall and Tillbrook have accepted their new roles. Our motor business has delivered some excellent results in a turbulent market due to our disciplined approach to underwriting.
“We will continue to provide our brokers with market leading products that support their clients’ unique motor passions and needs.”
