Splice the mainbrace and man the yard arm readers; prepare yourselves for a tale of adventure and daring on the high seas - well the Solent.

Cowes Week 2003 and the NIG/Churchill gin palace is in full regatta mode.

Free spirits, or at least the wine, has combined with the sun to raise the temperature on board to a point where even the Solent looks tempting.

Without a second thought our trusty crew of insurers and their clients strip off and dive in (anyone conjuring up a mental picture of the scene please leave the room).

Whether there was something in the water or our swimmers just enjoyed the feeling of walking the plank we don't know.

But it turns out that nearly all of the hearty swimmers have since changed jobs.

Anyone for a dip?
