A Norwich Union employee who allegedly siphoned £1.5m from the insurer over a ten-year period, has had her assets frozen.

The insurer is suing the woman, along with 29 other defendants. The High Court agreed to freeze her assets.

Sources told The Times newspaper that she is alleged to have committed the fraud in a Norwich Union branch in Southend.

She is alleged to have processed fraudulent claims, using the details of corporate clients. The woman allegedly processed the claim before sending monies to herself.

A Norwich Union spokesman said: "We decided to act because we needed to freeze her assets in order to get the money back. No policyholders' money is at risk."
