Staff from Lloyd's company Euclidian found themselves sailing close to the wind last weekend when they took part in the Lloyd's Yacht Club Lutine Lineslip Regatta.

During the three-day event, executive chairman James Truscott drove to the wrong train station to pick up a member of the team, then later lost his car keys on the boat.

Meanwhile, assistant property underwriter James Haycock nearly fell off the 64ft yacht, before running into a sail and bruising his forehead during the first tack.

The company mascot – a 4ft-tall plastic Buddha – also failed to escape unharmed. Tied to the back of the boat, it cracked into several pieces when the crew tightened up the backstay.

Despite the mishaps, Euclidian sailed to victory to win the Offshore Telecom trophy.
