Omni Whittington Capital Management has won the run off contract for Syndicate 2002 from its original managing agency Zenith Syndicate Management.

The transfer has been achieved by a novation, which has now received full approval from Lloyd's.

Syndicate 2002 was established in 2000 to write predominantly UK personal lines (motor) and small commercial business. The syndicate's final year of account was 2002 when it had a capacity of approximately £84m.

The syndicate's UK book of motor business was renewed by Zenith Insurance, a Gibraltar-based insurance company owned by Zenith Group.

During 2003 the remainder of the syndicate's business was either placed into run-off or transferred to alternative carriers.

Omni Whittington chief executive, Tony Hobrow, said: “We will be able to provide the level of certainty that Zenith's capital providers and shareholders are looking for in terms of administration costs, ongoing management and an orderly exist from the Lloyd's market.

“Our aim will be to close the syndicate at the usual date.”
