Nearly a third of all UK small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) do not carry out risk assessments, according to a survey commissioned by SGS Consulting.
Even though firms have heightened security concerns post-WTC, the survey found 30% of those which employ less than 500 staff (99% of UK businesses) do not carry out any form of risk analysis.
The Institute of Risk Management indicated the findings backed-up its own informal views. It advised that "enterprises conduct regular reviews of their risks, with assistance from competent professionals, where necessary".
