While Allianz Cornhill seems to be the tipsters' favourites for a £400m acquisition, Backchat hears that there are still two other runners and riders.
A friend of Backchat's who knows top brass at the French-owned company says the shortlist comprises three companies whose name begins with A. So that's Allianz Cornhill and two previously untouted others. My friend reckons that the other two could well be AXA and AIG.
