The 34-storey building to be located in Leadenhall Street will house up to 7,000 city workers
Plans for a new “Gotham City-style” office complex in the heart of the insurance district have been unveiled.
The 34-storey building to be located in Leadenhall Street is expected to house up to 7,000 city workers.
Henderson Global Investors, which manages more than $100bn in assets, wants to build the 910,000sq ft building which is expected to cost £391m to develop.
Around 97% of the block will be used for office space, with the other 3%, about 20,000sq ft, to be used for retail, CityAM reports.
The design of the building has been compared to a toast rack or a building from Gotham City, the fictional setting for the Batman stories.
The construction could also rival other well-known fixtures along the city’s skyline, such as the Gherkin or the Shard.
