Am I the only reader who, after seeing their current TV ads, is alarmed by the notion that NU Direct can "quote you happy" for motor insurance solely on the basis of the proposer being female and driving "a hatchback"?

OK, I grant you that caller ID may show the approximate location the caller is ringing from, but

I would have thought that most underwriters would have liked a little more information to base a quote on - what sort of hatchback, who's driving, past claims and convictions and other boring details like that.

Or do NU Direct have other ways of obtaining this information? If so I think we should be told.
