Mark Stephen replaces Andrew Kail

PwC has appointed Mark Stephen as head of its UK insurance business, succeeding Andrew Kail, effective immediately.

Stephen will lead PwC’s work in the UK insurance industry.

Kail will continue to lead services to key clients in the insurance industry and be a member of the assurance executive with responsibilities for listed companies.

“The insurance industry has emerged from the financial crisis with its global reputation largely intact, but many insurers are still struggling to deliver favourable and sustainable returns,” Stephen said.

“It’s an uncertain risk environment with massive changes afoot in a slow growing domestic marketplace. Insurers must continue to adapt their business and look beyond their existing markets and products to meet growth and profitability aspirations. I look forward to helping our clients stay relevant in the changing market,” he added.

Stephen has been with the firm for over 20 years, during which time he has specialised in the insurance industry. He previously led PwC’s risk and regulation business, and PwC’s insurance consulting business.
