ri3k is focusing on the broker with its launch of version 2.0 of the reinsurance infrastructure.

Chief executive Alex Letts said: "We have rebuilt the system to be broker friendly so they are more comfortable with it and can get quotations. Rather than bypass brokers we want to re-intermediate them and add even more value
to their treaty business."

The new version allows the broker to manage multi-layered treaty programmes, the facility to pass on technical accounting data, and access dual continent real-time disaster hosting.

Letts also said that once the renewal season was over, ri3k would launch Project Jhelum. Named after one of Alexandra the Great's major battles in India, "renowned for the most fantastic outflanking manoeuvre in military history", according to Letts, the system will enhance the company's treaty facility.

Letts would not comment on whether the new system would also handle facultative work.
