Stolen vehicle recovery specialist TRACKER has announced a 10% increase in the value of vehicles recovered in 2003, together with a massive surge in those taken through key theft.

The company reported that over half the 1,319 vehicles recovered were taken with the owners' keys, an increase of 87% on last year.

The total value recovered in 2003 was £35.1m, with, Audi, Ford, Mercedes, Porsche BMW and Subaru accounting for over £25m of recoveries.

TRACKER managing director Kevin Watters said: "TRACKER's contribution to motor insurers' results is clearly beyond doubt, because it does what it says on the box - TRACKER gets back stolen vehicles using proven technology.

"We face new challenges for 2004 and we are confident our research and development programme will maintain our position as leaders in our field."
