Risk managers from the public sector have announced plans to consider ways of preserving national treasures.

Last month members of ALARM - The National Forum for Risk Management in the Public Sector - toured historical
buildings in Norwich.

ALARM delegates were impressed by the "innovative and practical initiatives" used to preserve buildings in Norwich - they now plan to use these initiatives in other public buildings.

Chairman of ALARM East Anglia Eric Arnold said: "The visit was an excellent opportunity for us to see best practise and to consider how we might adopt some of the initiatives in other important buildings.

"Disasters can occur at any moment and in particular fire, theft or malicious damage can have a significant impact on delivery of services and cause the destruction of national and local treasures.

"The visit to Norwich showed us different ways that we might manage these risks and this partnership working proved to be exciting, educational and highly productive."
