Lloyd's franchise performance director Rolf Tolle is a gambling man. Which is probably a good thing when dealing with the Lloyd's Market.

His passion is cards and Tolle told Backchat last week that he is a keen bridge player. "I am very good," he said. So would he like to challenge one of the most famous bridge players, Omar Sharif?

"I think I'm far better than him," Tolle said modestly. "He spends too much time watching the ladies. I'm happily married so I don't need to. I take my cards seriously."

So Backchat warns his fellow colleagues on the franchise board - if those meetings over run late at night and Tolle cracks open a new deck and suggests a quick hand to relieve the boredom - make sure you have deep pockets.
