Banning school trips because of a growing boom in “compensation culture” has been branded “misguided scare mongering” by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).
Schools had grown afraid of arranging school trips that could end up in litigation cases, said teachers union NASUWT.
Union general secretary Chris Keates said an “increasingly litigious” society was a threat to the future of school trips.
But APIL president Colin Ettinger said teachers were being scared unnecessarily because of the union's failure to recognise compensation culture as a myth.
Ettinger said: “It is ludicrous that despite clear evidence that shows accident claims have decreased by almost 10% in the last year, the NASUWT is spreading the myth that society is “increasingly litigious” and doesn't
understand the idea of a “genuine accident.”
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
