Two insurers have had complaints against their promotional offers dismissed by the Advertising Standards Authority.

The AA won its case against the allegation that it had misled its members with an offer for 14 days of free health cover provided by PPP Healthcare.

The ASA said the offer was a chance for AA members to experience PPP's cover without obligation.

It considered the wording of the AA's mail shot not to be misleading and clearly excluded claims for financial benefits.

A complaint against Royal & SunAlliance was also dismissed.

This case related to a direct mail shot that claimed new motor policyholders could save £50 on their premium if they switched to RSA.

A complainant said the savings were unrepresentative after he was quoted 76% more than his existing premium.

The ASA did not uphold the complaint since the claim was based on a sample of 250 new customers who had saved an average of £50 by transferring their motor insurance to RSA.
