One would expect the National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham to be full of water. But staff got quite a surprise when they turned up for work one morning in February to find this was precisely the case.

A dead fish had become lodged in an outlet at the centre overnight, causing a blockage which prevented the water circulating as normal and resulted in an overflow of one of the centre's storage tanks.

The result? The centre was shut for four days of mopping up.

But Backchat was pleased to learn that no fish were hurt in the incident.
