Former billionaire faces nine-week stentence

Irish businessman Sean Quinn has been jailed for nine weeks for contenpt of court.

Dublin’s High Court jailed Quinn on Friday for putting €500m (£400m) of his family’s assets beyond the reach of the Irish bank Resolution Corporation (IBRC).

IBRC, formerly Anglo Irish Bank, had won the right to recover the assets from Quinn in June.

Quinn is understood to owe IBRC €2.8bn, although the Quinn family arguies it owes the bank only €455m.
