PWC says E-Clear owed collapsed airline £35m

The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) is examining credit card processor E-Clear following the collapse of Scottish airline Globespan that left 4,500 holidaymakers stranded overseas last month, The Guardian reports.

Investigators are understood to have been in contact with the Globespan administrators, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC), after getting at least one detailed request for an investigation into E-Clear from a member of the public.

PwC claims E-Clear has taken £35m from Globespan customers that it has not passed on to the airline.

E-Clear is being pursued in two legal disputes linked to alleged overdue payments due to collapsed Slovakian airline SkyEurope and Canadian travel firm Go Travel Direct. E-Clear disputes all the allegations.
