Aon could be next in line to be investigated by Spitzer, reports suggested today.
The New York attorney general is said to have discovered evidence of illegal practices at the world's second largest broker while looking into practices at Marsh & McLennan.
It is reported that a civil lawsuit similar to that brought against Marsh could be filed against Aon within two weeks.
Investigators are said to have found documentation of business steering and tying at Aon. The practice of contingency agreements was also used by Aon.
Initially it defended contingency agreements as a “longstanding and well-known practice in the insurance industry”, but Aon announced it would stop taking the payments from insurers late on Friday.
