Sunderland City Council has been given four national awards after saving £6.4m by implementing Risk Management measures.
The council received the awards from ALARM - the National Forum for Risk Management in the Public Sector - at its annual conference in Manchester last night.
The seven ALARM awards recognise excellence in all areas of Risk Management and Sunderland won every category it was entered for.
Sunderland won the following categories: Human Resources or Health and Safety Initiative, Asset Protection Initiative, Any Other Risk Management Initiative and Risk Manager of the Year.
ALARM Chairman Kevin McGlone said: "The Risk Management undertaken at Sunderland has made a significant contribution to the efficiency and effectiveness of services provided to the community. It shows the importance and value of such work taking place in the public sector."
