Talbot has increased capacity for its Syndicate 1183 by 6% to £325m.

The Lloyd's managing agency has also appointed three underwriters to build its business.

Alex Colquhoun and Sophie Dunkerley have left Wellington to underwrite Bloodstock and Livestock, while Creechurch's Ian Fordham will write Accident and Health. Talbot has allocated £10m to both accounts.

Michael Carpenter, chief executive of Talbot, said: “I am pleased to report that Talbot is planning to increase its capacity for 2007 by 6% to £325 million. This increase enables us to enter two new classes of business: Bloodstock and Livestock, and Accident and Health.

“I am delighted that we have recruited underwriters of the calibre of Alex Colquhoun and Sophie Dunkerley to write the Bloodstock and Livestock account and Ian Fordham to write the Accident and Health account.”

Talbot's 2007 business plan, which is subject to approval by Lloyd's, shows gross premium income on a Lloyd's basis (net of acquisition costs) of £316 million. This is a 10% increase over the latest forecast gross premium income for 2006 of £286.3 million.
