Companies need to ensure their intermediaries are authorised if they want to continue using them after regulation, FSA chief executive John Tiner is expected to say in a speech today.

Speaking at the Insurance Institute in London, Tiner will say it is the responsibility of the parent company to ensure those below it in a chain of business are aware of the need for authorisation.

Tiner is expected to warn companies of the necessity of taking policy servicing back in-house, or transferring business to another intermediary, if current intermediaries are not properly authorised.

He will also urge companies to apply for authorisation as early as possible in order to avoid a flood of applications as regulation approaches.
