Towergate Partnership has acquired Arbuthnot Insurance Brokers from Arbuthnot Banking.
The business is Towergate's 106th acquisition, and brings the total premium controlled by Towergate to £1.25bn.
Arbuthnot Insurance Brokers controls £12m of predominantly commercial premium. Current managing director Gordon Applebey will be appointed chairman and Mark Evans, currently a director, will take over as managing director. The business will continue to operate from Henley with its current staff of 26.
Peter Cullum, chairman of Folgate Partnership, confirmed “Towergate Partnership is in advanced stages of negotiation with a number of other regional brokers and specialist underwriting agencies.
"I anticipate that our current rapid growth curve will continue and accelerate as we close in on our target of £2bn GWP in 2006.”
