Nowadays, schoolchildren are carrying a veritable treasure trove of electrical goods including mobile phones, mp3 players and Game Boys.

Which makes it no wonder that the Home Office has said 35% of pupils aged 10 to 15 have been victims of crime, including theft and assault.

When Backchat was at school, no one wanted to steal your grubby bag of sweets.
