Atlantic basin and US landfalling tropical cyclone activity will be 60% above average in 2005, according to Tropical Storm Risk (TSR) forecasts.

TSR said there was a high probability that hurricane activity will be above average, a 16% probability of a near-normal season and only a 4% chance of a below-normal season.

TSR also said it anticipates four tropical storm strikes on the US this year, of which two will be hurricanes.

Typhoon activity in the north-west region will also be slightly above-average overall, at 110% of normal, TSR said.
