The Turkish plane crash could cost its airline hull underwriters around $20m (£12.4m).
Despite being a relatively small loss, aviation underwriters will be disappointed with the start to the year.
The Turkish Airlines aircraft crashed in its approach to Diyarbakir airport on Wednesday.
Turkish Airlines' cover was led by Lloyd's syndicate 2001, managed by Amlin.
Amlin chief executive Charles Phillips said: "We don't envisage that it will be an enormous loss. It's well within the normal liability limits of Amlin.
"As far as we're concerned it's not a major loss."
