Sculptor cannot afford public liability insurance for stones
Sculptor Rory Te'Tigo has removed his five granite, 250kg, "Cornish Uprights" from a site on the A30 in Cornwall because he cannot afford the public liability insurance, BBC Cornwall reports.
He installed them on a stretch of the A30 from Sennen to Land's End in 2005, but says it is too expensive to insure them on the off chance that someone is injured while viewing them.
The sculptures have been moved to a private garden in the county.
Not enough cover
"It's turned out that there's an insurance problem," he said. "I'd hoped to be insured to have these sculptures here but it turned out that, for the very expensive insurance policy I bought, I appear to be covered for everything except a boil on my nose and for these sculptures being out here.
