Insurers are set to carry out daily reviews of the rates charged to cover professionals working in the Gulf, as fears about safety in the war zone are heightened.
According to Reuters insurers are reviewing the costs on a weekly basis, but one Lloyd's insurer said reviews would become more frequent if the situation in Iraq worsens.
Hiscox said the possibility of Iraq's Republican Guard turning on journalists is pushing premiums higher.
Weekly premiums for personal accident insurance are running at more than £6,000 per journalist on a £50,000 a year salary, according to the report.
David Bruce, personal accident underwriter at Hiscox said: "We are reviewing rates on a weekly basis at the moment, but might move to a daily basis depending on what happens."
