Willis executives have voluntarily certified the company's first and second quarter accounts under the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rules.
The move by chairman and CEO Joe Plumeri and chief financial officer Tom Colraine was prompted by the widespread concerns about companies' accounting practices after the Enron and WorldCom scandals.
Both executives have certified the company's Form 20-F and Form 6-K reports for the first and second quarter results of 2002 as filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Plumeri said: "Investor confidence has been severely shaken and CEOs and CFOs have an obligation to shareholders and their employees that transcends a narrow reading of these statutory requirements."
