Maidment replaces Talbot chief executive Rupert Atkin

The Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) has elected Lloyd’s insurer Beazley’s chief underwriting officer Neil Maidment (pictured) as its new chairman.

He succeeds Talbot’s chief executive Rupert Atkin, who is stepping down from the LMA chairman’s role at the end of the year.

As announced last Thursday, Atkin is stepping down as Talbot’s chief executive to become the Lloyd’s insurer’s chairman.

Maidment has been a member of the LMA board since 2011.

Maidment said: “I am honoured to have been appointed chairman of the LMA and look forward to the opportunity to build on Rupert’s excellent work in recent years, to encourage joint services to make the market more efficient, and to ensure that the market’s views are represented.”

LMA chief executive David Gittings said: “With more than 30 years’ experience in the market, [Maidment] is well placed to provide a clear view on how the LMA can continue to best serve the interests of its members.”

He added: “I would like to thank our outgoing chairman Rupert for the invaluable contribution he has made during his tenure.”
