Mark Allen was previously the non-executive director at Simply Business

The LMA’s (London Market Association) finance committee has appointed Mark Allen as chairman.

He will succeed John Dunn from Liberty Managing Agency Ltd.

And Hermien Smeets-Flier, chief financial officer at Aegis London, has been appointed as deputy chair. She will replace Martin Bride from Beazley.

Allan, said: “I look forward to leading the important work of the Committee.”

He is group chief financial officer at Brit Insurance, which he joined eight years ago, and was previously non-executive director at Simply Business.

The finance committee handles financial issues and requirements affecting Lloyd’s managing agents and syndicates.

It monitors the impact of financial topics on member firms such as solvency and liaises with Lloyd’s senior management on key issues in the market that may need practitioner input.

Meanwhile, the LMA board recently appointed Beazley veteran, Neil Maidment to its independent non-executive board member last week.
