Premiums rise 15.3% last year compared to 2010

Motoro insurance premiums shot up 5.4% in the final quarter of 2011, compared with a slight fall over the previous quarter, the average quoted AA Shoparound Index shows.

During 2011, premiums rose 15.3% to £971 compared to 2010.

  • In home insurance, premiums rose 3.1% to £156.95 in the final quarter. Premiums rose on an annual basis 9.5% to £143.36.
  • Contents premiums rose 4.4% to £80.58 in the final quarter. Premiums rose on an annual basis 11.2% to £72.43.
  • Combined buildings and contents premiums rose 2.9% to £211.49 in the final quarter. This annual increase was 5.6% to £200.25.
