UK hit by full year loss despite fourth quarter rally

Aon's UK retail broking revenue fell 3% to $629m (£392.1m) in the year ended 31 December 2010 (2009: $650m).

Globally, Aon's total revenue for 2010 increased 12% to $8.5bn due to a 12% increase in commissions and fees resulting from acquisitions, primarily Hewitt.

In the fourth quarter of 2010, UK broking revenues grew 4% to $193m, up from $186m during the same period in the previous year.

Aon's risk solutions business, which includes insurance brokerage services, posted a 4% rise in retail organic revenue to $1.8bn in the fourth quarter - "the highest rate of organic revenue growth since the second quarter of 2007," the company said.

UK organic revenue increased 6% mainly because of strong growth in new business and affinity business, it added.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
