He will lead UK southern region for global broker

Marsh has appointed Tom Ernoult as leader of the UK southern region for its middle market business.

Ernoult returns to Marsh from Giles, where he was director of underwriting services for six months. Previously, Ernoult was managing director of Oxygen Insurance Brokers and also worked at Heath Lambert. Prior to that, he was chief operating officer of Marsh’s UK Corporate Client Practice.

Ernoult will be responsible for driving Marsh’s business in the southern region, which encompasses the firm’s offices in Bristol, Cardiff, London City, Maidstone, Southampton and Reading.

He will report to Joe Grogan, leader of Marsh’s middle market business in the UK and Ireland.

Grogan said: “Tom combines exceptional knowledge of the middle market, a major growth area for Marsh, with a deep understanding of the needs of clients in this important sector. We are delighted to welcome him back.”

Ernoult added: “Companies in the middle market have been hit particularly hard by the recession, facing challenges such as shrinking order books, credit insurance woes, rising fuel costs and supply chain difficulties.

“While ‘green shoots’ are thin on the ground, middle market firms need to start planning now so that they are in a strong position to seize the opportunities that the recovery, when it comes, will bring. Marsh can help them do this and I look forward to developing the firm’s business in the Southern Region.”
