New acquisition serves housing association sector

David Ross, Gallagher UK

Broking group Arthur J Gallagher has bought Chelmsford-based broker Acumus for an undisclosed sum.

Acumus is a retail broker that provides risk consulting and insurance services exclusively for the UK housing association sector.

The acquisition will retain the Acumus brand and current office location, but become part of Gallagher Heath, Gallagher’s London-based retail broker.

Acumus chief executive Huw Thomas, managing director Mark Evans and their associates will continue to run the firm.

Gallagher chairman and chief executive Patrick Gallagher Jr said: “We continue to find outstanding UK partners that will add depth and help strengthen our London operations.

“The highly experienced team at Acumus will be a strong addition to our public sector practice and an excellent complement to our Gallagher Heath operations. We’re extremely pleased to welcome Huw, Mark and their colleagues to our growing Gallagher family of professionals.”
