The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has welcomed Gordon Brown's decision not to raise insurance premium tax (IPT) in today's (Wednesday 17 April) budget.
An ABI spokesman said: "The government listened to our argument that it was already getting £400m a year more, due to higher premiums."
He said the ABI would have liked a reduction in IPT.
"They could have done this and still got in the amount they wanted," he said.
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
