Former RSA chairman John Napier emerges at ACE

ACE European Group has named former RSA chairman John Napier as non-executive chairman of two of its key entities, ACE European Group and ACE Underwriting Agencies.

Current ACE European Group chairman Andrew Kendrick will become president of the company with full executive management responsibility for ACE’s operations across its Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

Napier has previously served as chairman of four FTSE 350 companies, including from 2003 to 2012 as chairman of RSA; and from 2008 until March 2013, he acted as chairman of UK-based global media services company Aegis Group.

ACE vice chairman and chief operating officer John Keogh said: “I am pleased to welcome John Napier to ACE and I am confident that the experience he brings will further strengthen our corporate governance while adding significant value to our European businesses. John’s substantial and varied chairmanships, with his international insurance industry knowledge, will help us navigate the challenging market and regulatory environment in the region.”

Kendrick said: “On behalf of ACE European Group, and also on a personal note, I am very much looking forward to working alongside John. His diverse business experience will be valued by our board members, while his understanding of corporate strategy across a range of industries will be of considerable benefit as we continue to develop our propositions for multinational and major risks clients throughout the region.”
