Reports that the Government will fully fund the recommendations of the Royal Commission on long-term care have been dismissed as speculation.

Reports at the weekend claimed the Government would announce it would finance residential care for the elderly.

Last year's Royal Commission said such care should be funded by the state without means testing. Experts said this could cost £1.2 billion a year.

However, Age Concern's Andy Allsop said: "The story is pure speculation."
