The new appointee will support the MGA’s ’very clear focus on delivering underwriting profit for our insurer partners and outstanding service to our brokers’, says chief underwriting officer

Specialty MGA Optio Group has appointed former Deloitte staffer Carrie-Ann Hallett as head of insurer partnerships, effective immediately.

Hallett will be based in London and report to the MGA’s chief underwriting officer, Gary Head.

Hallett’s appointment aligns with Optio Group’s wider strategy and ambition to deliver consistent underwriting profit for its insurer partners.

Speaking on the hire, Head said: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome Hallett to the Optio team as head of insurer partnerships.

“I am really looking forward to working with her as we continue to build ’The Underwriters’ MGA’, with a very clear focus on delivering underwriting profit for our insurer partners and outstanding service to our brokers.”

Boosting partnerships

Delegated authority expert Hallett joined Optio Group from professional services firm Deloitte, where she sought to help clients achieve their strategic goals through large scale underwriting transformations.

During nearly four years of service from 2022, she held numerous roles including senior manager of technology and transformation in insurance and senior consultant in insurance.

She began her insurance career, however, in 2018 at insurer Hiscox, where she gained experience in a variety of underwriting and operational roles across different business units and distribution channels.

Head continued: “Hallett’s expertise will help us to focus on long-term and mutually beneficial partnerships with our key insurers and to deliver on our promise to them every single year.”

Hallett said in a LinkedIn post on 19 August 2025: ”I’m thrilled to be embarking on my new role at Optio Group, working with Gary Head and the team to strengthen Optio’s commitment to building long-term, collaborative relationships with our partners.”
