FSA fined Aspray £21,000 for administrative failings

Aspray has signed up a compliance troubleshooter in the wake of its £21,000 fine for administrative failings.

The property repair and claims management firm based in Blackburn, Lancashire was fined by the FSA in March for failing to maintain proper controls and systems.

Aspray has since signed up Ecompli, an FSA compliance advice firm, to prevent any future breaches.

Founder James Whittle said the breaches happened in a very small number of branches.

He said: “We were absolutely devastated with the negative findings of the FSA last year, especially as we had not received a single complaint.

“Our experience and good name means everything to us.”

Whittle said Ecompli was now an “integral” part of the team.

He was looking to expand Aspray’s franchise offering by opening up more offices.

Aspray has expanded with six new branches in the UK and two in Ireland so far this year, bringing a total of 52 branches since it was established in 2005.
