Beazley has acquired Lloyd’s small business consortium’s underwriting team.

Beazley has provided underwriting capacity for the small business consortium, managed by SA Meacock Syndicate 727, for nine years.

John Marks, Paul Driver and Phillip Misztela will join Beazley and the consortium’s portfolio will be 100% underwritten by Beazley at year end.

Beazley head of property group Jonathan Gray said: “We are delighted to welcome John, Paul and Phillip to Beazley. Paul Bromley, who is responsible for our coverholder business, has worked closely with them for many years and we have a very high opinion of their underwriting skills, market knowledge, and track record of profitability.

“Most affinity business coming to the Lloyd’s market arrives by way of designated coverholders around the world. The key to successfully developing this business is through strong and trusting relationships with Lloyd’s brokers, coverholders and agents who know their target markets intimately, which the small business consortium has done extremely well.”

The small business consortium underwrites a book of niche business and will form part of Beazley coverholder head Paul Bromley’s small business team.
