New appointments at Chartis Insurance UK

Chartis Insurance UK has made four senior appointments:

  • Neil Braakenburg will lead the legal function as associate general counsel UK
  • Tom Doherty assumes responsibility for the major accounts practice in addition to his current role
  • Jason Harris will be taking responsibility for all commercial lines profit centres
  • David Miller will assume responsibility for all UK claims operations.

The appointments are part of Chartis's move to create an enlarged European region which will encompass European Economic Area countries and Switzerland.

The new regional headquarters will be in London.

Kelly Lyles, formerly executive director, commercial lines for Chartis in the UK has been appointed general manager in France of Chartis France.

Jim Shea, the newly appointed managing director of Chartis in the UK said: “I am personally delighted to be taking the role of managing director of Chartis Insurance UK and to be working with such a strong team.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
