Plan part of drive to develop van proposition

Direct Line Group is considering launching a Churchill-branded van insurance product this year.

The company said in its 2013 results presentation to analysts yesterday that one of its priorities for 2014 was developing its van insurance proposition.

This could include telematics and using the Churchill brand, the company said.

The insurance group already sells van insurance through its Churchill brand, but this would be a separate product.

The news follows Direct Line Group’s decision to reclassify its van business as commercial for accounting purposes at the beginning of 2013. It previously reported the van business under motor.

Direct Line Group’s van business has around 70,000 in force policies. The shift accounted for 1.7 percentage points of the 7.1% drop in motor in-force policies in 2013.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
