Ignite’s managing director, Toby MacLachlan, tells Insurance Times why the technology firm should win the Excellence in Technology - Customer category, alongside broker Wrapper, at the 2022 Insurance Times Awards

Why did you want to enter the Excellence in Technology - Customer category specifically?

Ignite and Wrapper entered this award category to showcase and celebrate our innovation in lifestyle insurance. Wrapper brings unparalleled levels of customer self-service capability to a market typically underserved by technology.

Many customers buying motorhome or tourer insurance want to be able to buy online, do their own mid-term adjustments, or cancel and renew policies themselves, rather than speak to a call centre.

Toby MacLachlan, Ignite

Ignite supplies its policy administration system to some major UK motor brokers and we took our learnings and technical know-how from this volume market to the leisure insurance sector.

It’s clearly popular with customers, as Wrapper is very highly reviewed and already now one of the fastest growing brokers in lifestyle sector.

What do you think makes your entry stand out or different from your competition?

Our entry stands out for the depth of functionality customers are given.

This is not a ‘digital layer’ or a ‘re-skin’. Wrapper combines chatbot, live chat and full customer self-service for a seamless, digital-first customer experience.

What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?

Winning this award would be a wonderful boost for a young company, Wrapper, which is doing some really ambitious things.
