Janthana Kaenprakhamroy, chief executive of Tapoly, reveals why the company should win the Customer Champion of the Year - Broker accolade at the 2022 Insurance Times Awards

Why did you want to enter the Customer Champion of the Year - Broker category?

Tapoly entered because we are championing a previously underrepresented group of customers - freelancers and micro businesses. We are finally giving them access to the fairly priced insurance products they deserve.

Prior to Tapoly, insurance brokers simply weren’t set up to provide the products this market needed. At the same time, freelancers and micro businesses weren’t able to access affordable insurance that accommodated their specific needs and way of working.

We tackled these two issues by creating a unique platform that uses specific small business data and artificial intelligence to match insurance brokers’ products against customers’ unique needs.

This way, brokers get access to new markets and customers get a fair price and are assessed on their individual merits. Customers also get additional cost savings from using an automated platform. 

What do you think makes your entry stand out or different from your competition?

As well as providing Tapoly’s products directly to our customers, we also provide our technology solution to insurers and distribution partners to use themselves on a software as a service basis.

No one else in the market has this dual insight - this makes us unique and better able to serve both audiences.

What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?

It would be testament to everyone at Tapoly who has worked so hard to build the business, as well as to the freelance and micro businesses that have supported and believed in us.
