Hill House Hammond (HHH) said it intended to close its Contact Centre in Northampton as part of its strategic review and plans for 2004. The move would be subject to a period of consultation with the centre's staff.
HHH managing director Ken Applegate said the expiry of the Centre's lease in 2004 had forced the company to consider its closure.
"Closure would involve around 150 redundancies. We will enter into a period of consultation, which will enable us to look at the concerns, ideas and opportunities for alternative employment within the organisation. If we are unable to identify and agree a viable alternative for the Unit, it will close.
"This has been a difficult decision and we will do our utmost to ensure that all staff receive full support throughout."
The Contact Centre came under HHH's control following the 1997 acquisition of Premium Search.
