Lloyd's underwriter Hiscox is supplying insurance cover for items bought on Yahoo's US auction and shopping sites. On the auction site, items that are paid for and not received are covered, as are items that are “materially different” from the seller's description. On its shopping site, shoppers are protected for items up to £175.
Yahoo in the UK has yet to cover purchases on its equivalent sites. A spokeswoman said: “We don't have any insurance at the moment. It is something we may consider in the future.”
